Work Clock
Read Philippians 4:6-8
Lord, when doubts fill my mind, when my heart is in turmoil, quiet me and give me renewed hope and cheer.
Psalm 94:19 (TLB)
The calendar and the clock can be angry disciplines in life. Tasks requiring completion at specific intervals often produce stress for the Christian and the non-Christian alike. The more technology we have, the more efficient tasks are accomplished. But, the time saved often affords the opportunity to add more projects to the schedule.
A period of my life was spent wanting to spend time reading the Bible or in prayer while fighting nervous energy trying to complete the daily tasks I had to accomplish. It was not a peaceful time and I don’t think the Lord was pleased with my unsettled way of life.
One day when I had a chance to read the Bible, I was struck by the words of Psalm 94:19. Why was I trying to do all my daily scheduling by myself? I needed the Lord to quiet me and give me balance. From that time on, I planned to do spend my time with the Lord first, and honoring that, He would help me arrange time to do the other things I needed to in my day. Now, the Lord is my clock and my calendar.
PRAYER: Lord, thank you for helping me see that you are the most important part of my day.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
My day goes better when I make time for the Lord first.
