It's There to Grasp
I've written several pamphlets and booklets, and I'd like to share a sample of my booklet entitled, "Life Preservers, Jellyfish, and Banyan Trees."
How can we begin to understand purpose in life until we understand the reason for that purpose? Paul Harvey, the late author and radio commentator, gives an insight into the purpose for life as he tells the story of "the birds" each Christmas.
A brief summary of that story involves a man who couldn't accept the true meaning of Christmas. He questioned why God would come to earth as a man. It just didn't register with him, until one stormy night when he encountered a flock of birds trying to survive in the snow and wind. He valiantly tried to get the birds into the safety and comfort of his barn. But they would not follow, no matter what he did to encourage them. In his capacity as a man, he failed to help the birds. Then the thought came to him that if he had been a bird, they would have identified with him and he would have been able to lead them to the safety of the barn.
Just like the birds, the world needs one of its own to lead them to the safety of Heaven. Trouble is, many people, like the birds, are still floundering in the storms of the world and can't find the way. So God sent His Son, Jesus, to the world in the form of a man, yet still completely God, to lead the world to Him.
