Unexplainable Love

Jesus, your love is ever present.
    You love me when I sleep instead of praying,
        just like Peter, James & John.
    When I sink beneath the water of fear after walking in faith with you,
        you love me as you loved Peter.
    When I deny you because I am afraid,
        you give me the same grace you gave your disciples.
    And even when I sometimes fail to live the life you choose for me,
        as your beloved Jacob did,
You love me.


    You love me when material things come before worshiping you,
        like Judas’ concern for money when Mary anointed you with oil.
    When my actions shift from praise to denial,
        like the people of Jerusalem who waved palm branches.
    When I get too busy with daily tasks to stop and listen to your words,
        like Martha.
    And even when I turn away from you if the sacrifice is too difficult,
        like the rich young man,
You love me.


    You love me though I sometimes misuse the special blessings you have given me,
        like Samson did.
    When I lack faith that you will take care of me in any circumstance,
        like many of the kings of Israel.
    When I am critical of your message and the lessons you teach,
        like the Pharisees.
    You speak to me in love. Even when I have times of doubt,
        like Thomas,
You love me with your never-ending love, and I bow before you with a grateful heart.
