Rainbow Trout

Are Rainbow Trout beautiful?
 That’s my quandary, you see.
Writing about them
 Is an assignment for me.

How can I look at the rainbow
 With that same hallowed look
That husband and friends
 Tell me is there in the brook?

I’ve gazed at the rainbow
 With high expectations
I’ve studied their shape
 With all the variations.

I checked out encyclopedias
 And authentic books
To get a feel
 For this “king of the brook.”

Oh, I know there’s beauty
 In all of God’s creatures
And gladly admit
 Rainbow’s have unique looking features.

But I’m sorry, dear friends,
 I really do wish
I could see all that beauty, but
 A FISH IS A FISH!
